Summary

Selectee will serve as an IT Specialist (Systems Administration) for the Operations Control Center (OCC) and is responsible for the management of the Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), Automation Security, and providing system administration level maintenance of the Remote Monitoring and Logging System (RMLS).

Duties

Performs multiple, varying, and complex assignments under the limited direction of a manager, project/program manager, team leader or more experienced technical specialist. May act as a contributing specialist on large work activities or as a team leader for single or small work activities.


Coordinates significant technical matters with representative of internal and external organizations. May act as a key technical point of contact for assigned activities.


Plans and schedules the installation of new or modified hardware/software. Manages accounts, network rights and access to systems and equipment.

Develops new and innovative approaches, methodologies and techniques to define and direct challenging projects and programs. Typical assignments may include: system design and recommending solutions to complex problems, interpreting policy, preparing and reviewing management reports or contractual documents.


Performs a variety of special troubleshooting and investigative assignments on a continuing basis to ensure systems reliability and accessibility and prevent and defend against unauthorized access to networks, systems, and data.


Defines, plans, and organizes assigned resources to accomplish organizational objectives. Allocates resources to accomplish small work-activities within established schedules.


Resolves all but unique technical problems without the intervention of management or a more experienced technical specialist. Identifies and informs management of problems that require their attention. Often develops and recommends techniques to address problem situations.


Contacts are internal and external. May act as a key technical point of contact for assigned activities. Contributes to the preparation of management/technical reports or contractual documents, and may communicate the overall results of a project or work activity to FAA management, the aviation and aerospace industries, and other external parties.


Work is reviewed periodically, typically at major milestones and at completion, for technical compliance and alignment with the requirements of the project or other work activity.


Work activities typically support and may be vital to the success of projects or activities of one or more organizational units, subdivisions, and LOBs/Staff Offices. In some areas, the work may affect the safety and security of customers.

To qualify for this position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-H/ FG/GS-10-12. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.

Specialized experience is: Experience in installing Local Area Network / Wide Area Network (LAN/WAN) connectivity to support critical National Airspace Systems (NAS) operations and provide system performance monitoring services on NAS critical systems and services which includes testing, modifications, enhancements, and maintenance of LAN/WAN computer networks.

Applicants should include examples of specialized experience in their work history.
